Sheard Owls mystery move

GEOFF Sheard's tactics in the Sheffield Wednesday takeover saga are causing surprise in the business world.
Analysts believe that his move to strike individual deals with Dave Allen and Wednesdayite goes against orthodox practice.

Sheard appears to have been operating outside the official process in which financial advisers Deloitte and Touche are identifying and vetting potential buyers of the whole club on behalf of the Owls.

Sources are puzzled about why he has sought to buy the 10 per cent stakes held by Allen and Wednesdayite rather than follow a private process that could lead to an all-encompassing solution for the club.

An insider said: "It seems that the best route for Mr Sheard would be to appoint a financial adviser and reach a solution that is the best for Wednesday."

There are fears that other potential buyers may be put off if they believe that the completion of a Sheard takeover is imminent - when in fact the door to Hillsborough is still open, though it has by no means been shut on Sheard.

what is sheard messing about at, its been how many months now, has he got the money or has he not, i fear the latter 2 be honest, because if he had then he would have bought the club by now, why doesnt he just come out with a statment stating what the state of play is, in my opinion there isnt one, we will be with the same board with no ambition. one question to all wenesday fans, does any one know how many season tickets have been sold this season, cant see it been many, if this takeover had happened there would have been many more, am not wasting my money on a baord who get their money mixed up with the clubs. keep my money for my family then spending a fortune on a sat afternoon at hillsborough, sorry but i wont be going until theres a good board and a good future at hillsborough, which there is not at minute. money better spend elsewhere

Maybe I should engineer a take-over. Here's a plan. I'll talk to the club, get my face known, raise the profile of the fact that someone's talking about taking over, and get some coverage in the papers about potential, opportunity, and returns for investors.

I hope that will stoke up interest elsewhere, not just with me and my mates. Then I'll get a big financial services company involved, get them to seek out multiple alternative groups of investors that might want a piece of the club. These will then compete against each other to buy, which will raise the value of the shares, and the price of takeover and increase the amount of money that club will get in return for the agreement of shareholders.

Mmmm, while this is in progress, I'll try to get hold of a good 20% of the shares for myself early doors. Then when a real consortium comes in with a concrete offer, I wonder what I could do with my stake....

now there's a thought.

Reminds me of the guy (forgotten his name) who paraded around Man U a few years ago, having bought it on speculation only. When he had to come up with the money he didn't have any! Finished up buying Carlisle for the price of a pie and chips, I believe. What was his name? Anyway looks like our Sheard has been reading up on the notoriety he received and wants a piece. With the season ticket saga, the Board deserve the walk-away that thousands have made I'll bet it will be a draughty for me and a couple of mates in the North Stand this season. Unless something positive happens out of the blue, I reckon average gates this season will be lucky to make the 17000 mark, with some games struggling to get 12000. The manager and team deserve better. I've been coming for almost 70 years so I'll get in what I can, regardless. Unfortunately I don't believe I'll be around for the better days in the future. As I've said before this Board are the worst custodians of the Club in over 50 years!!

I can confirm that Wednesday have sold less than 5000 season tickets so far, which is an absolute disgrace!

It's going to be a great atmosphere down at Hillsborough this season - Not!!

I'm sick to death of Sheard, with his dithering and pratting around!!

It looks like this is a sign of things to come for Sheffield Wednesday and I really don't like what I'm seeing. I can see yet more years of misery and heartache for this club, if and when the takeover finally happens.

Wednesday are on its knees and it's shameful that this was allowed to ever happen in the first place. Why do we seem to specialize in attracting fools and ditherers to lead us?

This man just can't be trusted and I for one won't be going down to Hillsborough for a season ticket in a hurry and certainly not until the legal action against the fans is dropped!
