THE Dons will be looking to make history in tomorrow's Northern Rail Cup final against Salford at Bloomfield Road (2.45).
No National League Two side has ever won the competition, but No 2 Tony Miller says there is no shortage of confidence in the camp.

"The mood in the camp has been brilliant all week and the boys are all champing at the bit.

"They can't wait to test themselves against Salford and they are going into the game in a confident frame of mind.

"We know that we will be the underdogs. They are top of League One, they are full-time and are a Super League club in all but name.

"But it is a cup final and a one off and anything could happen on the day.

"What could decide the game will be a series of personal battles including the one between the two number nines, Salford's Malcolm Alker and Corey Lawrie.

"There will be another vital battle at half-back where Luke Gale and Kyle come up against veteran New Zealand international Robbie Paul and promising younger Richie Myler.

"I think the main thing is that we've got to stop them in the forwards. Such as Australian Craig Stapleton and Philip Leuluai give them a lot of go-forward. We've done a lot of work in training on trying to nulify that.

"They also pose a threat out wide. "We've identified a few areas that we feel that they are vulnerable and we've come up one or two things to try and expose them.

"There is always the chance that complacency will creep in when a side go into a game such overwhelming favourites as is the case with Salford.

"But Shaun McRae is an experienced coach and I am sure that he will not let that happen.

Said McRae: "They're going to throw everything at us. I have a lot of respect for their coach Ellery Hanley - he's one of the greatest ever Rugby League players and knows the game inside out.

"But we have prepared well and the boys can't wait to run across the line at the start of the game.

"We'll have a lot of our fans there and will outnumber Doncaster, but they will be very vocal and in party mode so it should make for a terrific atmosphere."

The Reds have all but sold out every ticket the Rugby League has been able to send them.
