The fact that quite a few of the young players got a run out, does suggest that there might be a lack of depth in Wednesday’s squad at present but the way in which they have conducted themselves and stepped up into the senior set-up has impressed both the manager and the new captain.
"That's what the younger players do, they bring those legs and that energy and as I said before the plan is to move the squad to be a more dynamic squad and I think you can see the signs of that,” Monk said after that 0-0 draw with the Foxes.
“We have still got a lot of work to do and a lot of improvement to make but in terms of what we've been doing for two weeks, getting to our first game and what we saw was a lot of what we worked on so it's really pleasing."

Hide AdIt was revealed at the weekend that Barry Bannan has been made skipper and he, too had positive things to say about the impact that players like Josh Render, Ciaran Brennan, Conor Grant, Liam Shaw and Charles Hagan who among others had all been at the training camp.
Bannan said: “They've been training with us for a while, the young boys, they've all got potential, they've been working really hard and we've been pleased with what we've seen and they've come in and given a good account of themselves.”
