It was a remarkable Easter Monday for the Owls as they ran rampant against Cardiff City, scoring five goals in their biggest win of the season to climb off the foot of the Championship table and within touching distance of leapfrogging 22nd-placed Rotherham United.
They’re without Darren Moore currently after he tested positive for COVID-19 last week, with Jamie Smith taking charge of both of the last two games, and it’s thought that he will lead them out once again this weekend Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

When asked, he replied, “At the minute I think so, but I don’t know for definite… I don’t know the exact protocols for definite.”
Aside from the obvious positives of a big win and a clean sheet at Hillsborough on Monday, another bonus was that they managed to come through the game unscathed – an achievement on its own given the injury worries they’ve had in recent weeks.
Tom Lees had to come off during the 1-0 defeat to Watford after picking up a knock in that encounter, but was back to put in a momentous display against the Bluebirds, and the stand-in Owls boss says that there are no new concerns.

“Moving forwards to Saturday, I think we’ll be pretty much the same as what he had available today.”
There was some good news from the U23s on Tuesday as they picked up a 3-0 win over Hull City at the training ground, with Joost van Aken making a strong step towards recovery as he played the first 45 minutes of the tie.
