Praise for ‘brave’ Sheffield Wednesday scorer, Callum Paterson, after huge Owls victory
The Owls were able to overcome a tough first half against Derby County, with Neil Thompson switching things up before Callum Paterson was able to bundle the ball home early in the second half.
Paterson’s headed goal means that he’s now the club’s outright top scorer for the season in the league with four goals to his name, scoring in back-to-back games as SWFC made it 10 points from a possible 12 in their last four matches.

It bobbled around, and Callum is a brave boy and he put his head in where it hurts.
“We got that goal, and it was so, so important. It gave us something to hang on to.”
“They’re a good bunch of lads who give you everything they’ve got. In other games this season we’ve been in front and things have gone against us for whatever reason - we’ve held onto these last two games, and six points makes such a difference and gives everybody a lift moving into the new year.”
Next up for Wednesday is an FA Cup trip to Exeter City on January 9th as they seek to pick up another win and continue their turnaround in fortunes.
