Cardiff City, who sacked Neil Harris as manager yesterday, are reportedly set to unveil former Sunderland and Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy.
The South Yorkshireman, who has been an outlier in the conversation as to who could take the vacant manager’s position at Hillsborough, left Atdhe Nuhiu behind at Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia last month and immediately leapt towards the top of the betting in the Owls manager market.

Hide AdMcCarthy has been heavily linked with the Sheffield Wednesday role previously but will join a Cardiff side in a reasonable league position despite a run of six defeats on the spin.
Reports suggest the length of McCarthy’s contract is yet to be decided but that he will be unveiled as Bluebirds manager ‘in a matter of days’.
There has been no indication that McCarthy was being considered by Wednesday, whose search for a new boss goes on.
