The Owls came out on the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline on Good Friday after an unfortunate Tom Lees own goal gave the hosts an early advantage, and Darren Moore was forced to watch the game from home after testing positive for COVID-19, communicating with his technical team via the phone.
His assistant, Jamie Smith, was the man put in charge for the game alongside Paul Williams, and he says that they are looking to move on from the game now as they turn their focus to toppling Mick McCarthy’s side in S6.

Hide AdSpeaking after the 1-0 defeat at Vicarage Road, the stand-in Owls manager said, “Obviously we weren’t happy with the manner of the goal but it’s gone now and we look forward to Cardiff.
“We will go into the game with confidence and we will play to win. We can see the improvements and the progress we have made in recent weeks.
“We will take those positives into the Cardiff game and the remaining games we have left.”
And despite their current predicament, Smith insists that today’s game isn’t a ‘must win’, but says they’ll be going all out to try and get a result and get back to winning ways at Hillsborough.

Hide AdH said, “I wouldn’t say it’s ‘must win’, no… It’s crucial that we do try and win the game, and hopefully get three points from it, but I wouldn’t say it’s a ‘must win’.
“It’ll be another massive challenge for us, against a top team in this division. It’ll be tough, but we relish it and we’ll try to play with confidence and positivity. We want to try and win the game.”
Wednesday face the Bluebirds knowing that they’re now seven points adrift of safety with inferior goal difference to 21st-placed Coventry City, but Moore and his team have been very clear on the fact that they won’t be giving up on Championship survival until it’s no longer mathematically possible to stay up.
