But it was one that left Sheffield Wednesday supporters wondering if they should have taken a man advantage into the bulk of the game after Canaries defender Ben Gibson cynically brought down Josh Windass and risked a red card.
Windass was through on goal but had Norwich defenders around him. Gibson was shown only a yellow card and Jordan Rhodes scored soon after the resultant free-kick, but Norwich’s class shone through in the end, with Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell releasing individual moments of quality to consign the Owls to a seventh-consecutive defeat.

Hide AdAsked about the challenge after the game and whether he felt Gibson should have seen red, Wednesday boss Darren Moore said: “I’d have to have another look at it. I don’t know if there was another advancing defender coming round.
“It was the move and the opportunity that we fashioned to get in behind them. That’s what we worked on, trying to fashion a typical move like that to get in behind them.
“It worked a treat and if Josh had been able to pull it down and continue maybe he would have been able to get away a shot at goal, so we have to look at it as 50/50 in terms of that [whether it was a red card], but I’ve not seen it back.”
Wednesday, who were the better team in the first half and showed huge improvements in their play, remain seven points adrift of the Championship safety spots.
