The Star understands that the club have been inundated with job applications from managers across the world, and that there have been plenty of talks going on in the background as the Owls seek to find Tony Pulis’ replacement.
But while the likes of Paul Cook, Thorsten Fink, Rene Weiler and others have all been linked – and are on the club’s radar – a decision has not yet been made on who will come in to relieve Neil Thompson of his duties as caretaker manager.

It is thought that, while ‘as soon as possible’ is the mantra in terms of finding the next manager, Chansiri has not set a deadline or time scale by which it must be done – he told the media recently that he couldn’t afford to make another ‘mistake’ after what happened with Pulis.
The Star is led to believe that, as things stand, Thompson will be in charge of the upcoming game against Coventry City (COVID-19 permitting), while Chansiri and his team take their time in trying to make sure that they get this one right.
