Sheffield United’s dreams of FA Cup glory were dashed following an injury time goal by substitute Dani Ceballos who secured a 2-1 win for Arsenal in this afternoon’s quarter-final tie at Bramall Lane.

Chris Wilder’s battling side thought they had taken the game into extra time when striker David McGoldrick cancelled out Nicolas Pépé’s first half effort from the penalty spot in the 87th minute before the on-loan Real Madrid midfielder scored from a narrow angle to book a semi-final berth for the Gunners.

The defeat means the Blades are yet to win since the resumption of football following the lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis.

But here’s what United fans thought of their side’s improved performance on Twitter.

@daviesblades83 Much improved performance, more like ourselves in the second half. Impressed with McBurnie and Berge, pleased for Didsy to get his goal. Positives to take into the match in the Premier League on Thursday. #sufc #twitterblades #sheffieldunited

@itseganstevens Berge looked much better today. Hopefully he can push on from his performance today after Lunny’s injury might keep him out #SUFC #Twitterblades

@poppypea09 Disappointed not to win that goes without saying, but much more positive than the last three games. Quicker, created chances, and I thought Sander looked 100% better than what we have seen from him so far #sufc #twitterblades #onwardsandupwards

@Steve_W_1889 To be honest, in a funny way its good we got knocked out now. Imagine getting to Wembley and not being allowed to be there! It's a blessing! #twitterblades #sufc

@KingsleyWhybrow Massively improved performance from the lads today after three lacklustre performances. Should not lose the game like that but that’s football and imagine a team like Arsenal with the players having to play park the bus for 45 minutes #sufc #twitterblades

@Callum1093 Out of the FA Cup in that fashion is hard to take but we have to take the positives into the Tottenham game, Thursday. This could be a turning point with this set of lads, they'll be itching to put it right. Even more so after today. #sufc #twitterblades

@SUFC_memories The amount of negativity from Blades on here is really disappointing. It’s very easy to get behind the lads when we’re winning. About time a lot of people did the same when things aren’t going so well.

@nickeaglephoto Proud of the Blades in that one. Class football and back like our pre-lock-down self! Bring on Thursday night. I thought the ref had a brilliant game for Arsenal too. Top signing. #twitterblades #sufc

@MikeyRaveyGravy Poor defending cost the Blades in the end but not a bad performance. I'd be worried if I were an Arsenal fan, whoever they play in the semi finals has a pass to through to the final. #SHUARS #twitterblades #sufc

@JoeRowley98 Easily should have won that game. Wrong changes, poor defending, lack of support from midfield and inability to finish. Not going to say it’s the end of the world, but that was our most important game left, and we failed by no other fault than our own. #SUFC #TwitterBlades

@CallumCheswick Can't even fathom how we've lost that. It's a tough one to take that's for sure but positives to be taken for the second half in particular and performances from both McBurnie and Berge especially. Need to move on for a big game on Thursday now. #sufc #twitterblades

@pjobuchanan Better from the Blades today and a goal. The ref must have a vendetta against the Blades, slightest things he blows for Arsenal and nothing for us. Hopefully we don’t get him again. Up the Blades.
