South Yorkshire locals have revealed the ‘little risks’ they regularly take – with going to bed late on a work night, eating food past its sell-by date, and not using sun cream the top three.

A poll of 2,565 adults – including those living in Sheffield – found 42 per cent of those from South Yorkshire are self-confessed risk takers.

Other common gambles include not doing the washing up till the next morning, turning up at a restaurant without a booking, and leaving the home without an umbrella on an overcast day.

Pressing snooze on the alarm, going outside without any shoes on, and crossing the road when the red man is showing are also frequent occurrences.

Commissioned by 888poker, the research found South Yorkshire residents take around three ‘little risks’ a week on average.

Saturdays feel 'riskier'

The study also found those living in South Yorkshire tend to take more small risks on a Saturday than any other day of the week.

And their social life is the area of their life where they are most open to doing so – perhaps asking someone for a date or visiting a restaurant they’ve not read reviews for.

Other frequent risks among South Yorkshire locals include putting something in the ‘normal’ bin when they know it should be recycling, and going outside with wet hair.

Drinking coffee or tea before going to bed, not closing the curtains or blinds when getting quickly changed, driving through an amber traffic light are also common.

Carried out through OnePoll, the research also found 66 per cent wish they had more excitement than they do currently.
