Major new timetable changes announced on South Yorkshire buses during lockdown
and live on Freeview channel 276
South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive has brought in the changes because of changing public demand during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A SYPTE spokesman said: “Further updates to South Yorkshire’s public transport timetables will take place this Sunday 19 April as operators continue to respond to changing passenger demand.

The changes, to some bus services, are designed to make sure critical routes can continue to run for key workers and NHS staff during the Covid-19 crisis.

Customers can also get the latest information by calling Traveline on 01709 515151 between 8am and 6pm, seven days a week, or on Travel South Yorkshire’s social media channels.

Hide AdMeanwhile, a number of changes have been introduced on services to enhance passenger safety.
Focused cleaning regimes have been introduced at all Travel South Yorkshire Interchanges.
This includes extra attention to ensure doors, handrails, lifts and ticket machines remain disinfected.
Charges for the use of interchange toilet facilities have been lifted until further notice to give everyone access to handwashing.

Hide AdSpecific measures introduced by public transport operators include increased cleaning frequency of all grab rails and poles, entrance door handles, window ledges and other touchpoints; encouraging staff to increase their handwashing frequency, and providing additional cleaning facilities to enable them to do so; displaying NHS advice on vehicle; and continuing to offer contactless payment on vehicle.
Bus operators are also encouraging customers to use contactless payments and ensure they are following advice on social distancing whilst using public transport.

Since the coronavirus lockdown kicked in more than three weeks ago, public transport has been stripped back across the country.
Sheffield’s Supertram is running on a greatly reduced service and many bus services have been reduced in frequency while rail services have also been stripped back.
