M1 junction 36 Barnsley South: ‘Severe delays’ on the M1 near Sheffield as flooding hits motorway

National Highways have issued a warning of ‘severe’ congestion between junctions 36 (Barnsley South) and 37 northbound because of flooding which has closed one of the lanes of the carriageway.

It comes as there have been reports of flooding in parts of Sheffield this evening warning people drive sensibly and appropriately to the conditions.

There have also been reports of flooding in areas near Sheffield in areas including Treeton.
