Hide AdA construction worker told The Star a man is reportedly on the roof of a building inside the cordon, with several dozen builders working in the area unsure if they will be ‘downing tools’ for the day over the incident.
The cordoned-off area is one of the main pedestrian crossings for walking through the city centre.
South Yorkshire Police has been contacted for a comment.
It comes just days after a large area of the city centre was closed for around 36 hours on Monday night after a man climbed a crane and stayed there until Wednesday.
