Derbyshire based Esland Group wishes to use Park House, a former parkeeper’s residence, for a home for one child and two staff members.
A planning report lodged with Barnsley Council says if that is approved, the home will provide care for children aged 8-18 who have experienced “trauma and significant unrest in their lives.”

A design and access statement on behalf of the applicant states that: “This application should not automatically be considered to bring additional issues into the area due to the fact the children are very closely monitored and assessed before being placed in any of the homes to ensure that they themselves are placed in a safe homely environment.
“Such allegations are pre determining the children’s behaviour and should be treated as scaremongering.”
