Bars in the city are offering free drinks to anyone who has cast their ballot in the general election.
BrewDog Sheffield, on Devonshire Street, is promising a free pint for any voters, while FirePit Rocks, on West Street, is tempting them with a shot of Fireball cinnamon whisky on the house.

Hide AdAfter another acrimonious campaign, in an election with so much at stake, a free drink could be just what voters from across the political spectrum need.
While it is an offence under electoral law to offer gifts in an attempt to persuade people to vote in a particular way, there does not appear to be any rule preventing businesses from rewarding customers simply for putting their X in the box of their choice.
BrewDog is asking drinkers to snap a selfie outside their polling station and show it at any of its bars to claim their free pint.
Anyone who voted by post can simply show their postal vote registration confirmation email/letter there instead.

In a message which will surely chime with much of the electorate when it comes to general elections, it added ‘hopefully we won’t be having another one for a while’.
