‘Reduced and improved’ housing scheme recommended for approval in Sheffield suburb

Darwent Architecture Ltd submitted plans for four new two-bed semi detached houses, with two off-street parking spaces per home, at the land to the rear of 32-38 Greenhill Main Road.
In the report, council officers recommended the planning and highways committee grant it conditionally and said: “The proposed development is a reduced and improved scheme from the previously refused application.

Hide Ad“The provision of a further four housing units overall would make a small but positive contribution to the city’s housing supply at an acceptable density, would contribute to the diversity of the housing stock in the area and provide economic benefit during construction all of which amount to a public benefit.
“The harm to the Greenhill Conservation Area is considered less than substantial and the public benefits of the scheme are considered sufficient in this case to outweigh that less than substantial harm.
“For the reasons described above, it is considered it has been demonstrated there are no significant adverse impacts as a consequence of this application being granted.”
The previously refused scheme proposed five houses in a single terraced block.

Hide AdInitial plans for four homes recieved 35 representations, all of which were objections. Plans were then amended and neighbours were reconsulted which resulted in a further 11 objections and a petition with 11 names on, all objecting. It was then slightly amended twice more.
A decision is due to be made at a planning and highways commitee meeting on Tuesday, January 12.
