Compulsory purchase orders to be issued for two derelict Sheffield homes so they can go back on the market
and live on Freeview channel 276
The council’s cabinet will this week be asked to approve the orders for houses 104 Mill Road, in Ecclesfield and 1 Havelock Street, Broomhall.
Officer reports describe how both are “in a very poor state of repair” both externally and internally with category one hazards – serious risk of harm to the health or safety of an actual or potential occupier – and that their state is having a negative effect on the surrounding communities.

Hide AdCouncil tax records show the two-bedroomed property on Mill Road has been vacant since 1999 and the three-bedroomed Havelock Street house, since 2005.
Birds were reported to have flown into the Mill Road property through a hole in the roof and there have been complaints of infestations of vermin, defective drainage and an overgrown garden.
The council has written to the owners of both properties asking them to fix the issues but said it received no response.
In both reports, a council officer said: “There is demand for this type of property within the area. The property is empty and has a particularly detrimental effect on the neighbourhood in this area. Compulsory purchase is the most appropriate course of action.”

The compulsory purchase orders are set to be approved in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 17.
