Petition calling for fairer funding for Sheffield schools hits 5,000 signatures
The Star and Sheffield Telegraph has united with Sheffield Council, Learn Sheffield, the city’s six MPs, businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to fight for fair funding and is calling on residents across the city to join the fight.
It comes after figures revealed that the city’s pupils get hundreds of pounds less spent on them than children in other big cities.

Hide AdStaff at Sheffield Futures, based in the city centre, have back the campaign and have shown their support by taking photographs holding the petition’s hastag #FairFundSheffieldSchools.
The youth charity’s chief executive Gail Gibbons said: “Sheffield Futures is proud to support the petition for fairer funding for Sheffield city schools.
“Sheffield’s young people deserve the same funding for their schools as those across the country, as education is vital for a successful transition in to adulthood.”
