Sheffield Kings Boxing Club on Retford Road, Woodhouse has been leaving non-perishable foods outside their premises since last week to prevent people from going hungry.
The gym owner Chris Medley said: "There are a lot of people in Woodhouse who are struggling at the minute.

Chris said although they had to use their own savings to embark on such initiative, the feedback has been rewarding.
"At the beginning, people were a bit shy so what we have done was we wrote a little note that says 'Free food for all - don't be hungry' so people started coming."
He said since they started, they have to replenish the foods every two days.

"We have no donations like other food banks or anything like that. But it'd be good to get donations to help the community," he said.
Their move has also received positive feedback from the community.
A Woodhouse resident said: “This is so amazing. It really is. Care in the community right here. Well done.
