We received hundreds of suggestions when we asked our readers on the Star’s Facebook and Twitter pages: “What must you do at least once if you live in or visit Sheffield?”
It’s easy to forget all the amazing things there are to do right on our doorstep when we’re consumed in the 9-5 life, and for those visiting for the first time, it’s even harder to know where to start exploring. If you’ve found some spare time on your hands and want to get back outdoors to discover (or re-discover) all the things there are to do – this is a list of some of the top-mentioned ideas from those who live right here in the city.
How many of the following can you proudly say you’ve done – and how many will you add to your bucket list?

2. Eat a 'proper' fishcake
It's imperative that any visitor to the Steel City tries a 'proper' fishcake. One place you can get your hands on one of these is at Sheffield's oldest fish and chip shop, Two Steps, on Sharrow Vale Road. Photo: Robert Cumber
3. Visit the grounds of the city's two league teams
Whether it's Sheffield United's Bramall Lane, or Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough Stadium, it's definitely worth trying to catch a game to see some of the city's idols in action. Photo: Getty Images
4. Visit the Peak District
With the Peak District literally on the city's doorstep, it's well worth visiting. One reader suggested others visit Stanage Edge and watch the sunset. Photo: Lauren Maltas
