HEATWAVE: Hottest day of the year so far, but we’re not quite breaking records yet
Temperatures are expected to hit 30C today, making it the hottest day of the year so far.
But there’s still a way to go before we reach the highest temperature recorded in the East Midlands.
Met Office statistics show that occurred on August 3, 1990 when the mercury hit 37.1C in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

A yellow be aware alert of rain has been issed for Derbyshire between 4pm and 11.50pm today with thunderstorms expected.
