Goal flurry as Sheffield Hallam return to winning ways
Hallam were disciplined and patient against the league’s new boys, and took the lead in the 31st minute.
A perfectly timed run in to space allowed Matt Anderson to receive, control and then run the ball in to the shooting circle, setting up Toby Sadri for his first goal at national league level.

Hide AdThe second team had to be content with a 2-2 North Division Two draw at Doncaster. Sheffield dominated much of the game but didn’t move the ball as well as they had the previous week. Goals came from James Legg with nutmeg from a tight angle after a nice move down the baseline and a first for te club from Ewan Swann after the ball was smashed across a crowded circle.
The Ladies first team went down 1-0 to Wakefield, but the second team were able to notch their first points of the season with two 3-3 draws. On Saturday Ciara Whelan scored two and Sally Rawlings the other against Chapeltown whilst on Sunday Rawlings bagged herself a hat trick!
* University of Sheffield Bankers beat Brooklands Seconds, expected to be one of their major rivals in the league, 2-1.
Although many open play chances were squandered, the short corner routines were much improved and resulted in fine saves by the visitor’s keeper and two slick finishs by Jack Culmer (12mins) and MattKettley (19).

Hide AdBrooklands, fielding three former Bankers players, hit back with a breakaway down the right flank resulted in a scuffed shot which deceived Hibbert in goal. There was a suggestion of an illegal back stick but the goal stood.
Brooklands searched for the equaliser but Hibbert stood firm.
This Saturday, the team travel to Tynemouth and take on Whitley Bay.
Mark Watts, James Osborne and Tom Jarrett gave the Men’s 2nds their first win of the season, 3-1 win at Huddersfield Dragons.
