Devoted family launch appeal to allow Sheffield 92-year-old to end her days at home
Cath Moore, who has heart failure and dementia, has lived with daughter Deb in High Green for the last three years - after she was forced to sell the family home to pay for care costs.
Her family will soon no longer be able to afford to pay for the 24 hour a day care she needs - and the local authority say the cheapest option is to put her in a residential home.

Family friend Anna Sheard, who has been helping them organise the appeal, said: “They are an amazing family. Deb actually converted her garage by hand for her mum to live in.
“Cath is happy and settled and knows she is in a loving family home. The idea of her being in an unfamiliar setting just seems unfair.
“I know there have been a couple of points where they think she would not have lived as long as she has if she hadn’t been at home.”

The 20 mile walk set off from Hope and took in part of the Edale ridge which was a walk Cath used to do with her husband Ken.
“I know Deb from her looking after my mum and they would do anything for anybody,” said Anna.
“So I just thought let’s get some people together to raise some money and awareness for people in their situation who are left with little choice.”

Her family says she taught more than 1,000 children how to read over the years, and continued to volunteer in schools long after she retired.
After her husband Ken died in 2009, Cath finally left the family home they had shared since 1961 in 2015, and has lived with Deb and her partner Mary ever since.
