Visitors 'from neighbouring counties' still defying lockdown by travelling to Peak District beauty spots

Officers have repeated their warning that people should not travel to the national park for daily exercise during the lockdown.
The force tweeted this afternoon: “We're continuing to encourage residents in our and neighbouring counties, to be mindful of the government guidance around reasonable travel to exercise this weekend.

Peak District National Park bosses said now was not the time to visit the area’s natural wonders.
They tweeted: “They say absence makes the heart grow fonder… We’ve been around for 69 years and we’ll still be here when the coronavirus crisis is over. But for now, our message hasn’t changed. Please: stay home, protect our NHS and save lives.”
