Almas Ullah terrorised robbery victims in the Bradford area, where he held up staff at petrol stations while brandishing a Samurai sword, knife and golf club.
He also threatened to shoot a bookmaker in a raid.
When he was jailed in 2008, he received an indeterminate sentence for the protection of the public, meaning he would only be released once no longer deemed a danger.
