A warning has been issued to delivery drivers in South Yorkshire not to leave their cars and vans unattended when dropping off parcels.

It came after police officers found a car and van in Sheffield yesterday, which had both been stolen from delivery drivers.

A silver Toyota Yaris was found abandoned on Maltravers Road, Wybourn and a silver Vauxhall Vivaro was found found parked on Waterslacks Road, Woodhouse.

Both vehicles were recovered for forensic examination

South Yorkshire Police said: “Both the Toyota Yaris and the Vauxhall Vivaro were delivery vehicles that were stolen with the keys. If you are a delivery driver, please, please, please take your keys with you.”

Last month a delivery driver’s car was damaged and parcels were stolen when he was delivering on Gaunt Road, Gleadless Valley.

A 19-year-old pizza delivery driver was also recently injured when he was run over by thieves who stole his car from White Lane, Gleadless.
