Sheffield thief had 'five minutes of madness' when he stole sunglasses

Petrica Butu, 30, of Raby Street, Tinsley, stole the sunglasses and make-up from Clipper Logistics, in Sheffield, after he finished a shift but he was caught during a random search, according to a recent Sheffield Magistrates’ Court hearing.
Robert Coyne, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was randomly selected for a strip-search as staff are.

Hide Ad“He lifted his jumper up and the sunglasses were found tucked into his waistband and there were also three make-up items.”
Butu, who has no previous convictions, told police he had “five minutes of madness” and had stolen items for himself and family and friends.
He pleaded guilty to the theft which happened on January 7.
Magistrates sentenced Butu to a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work.
He must pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
