Mohamed Ali exchanged blows with the driver as they travelled to Bradford, on April 24, prosecutor Stuart Baird told Sheffield Crown Court, on Thursday.
A witness saw the pair get out and chase each other around the vehicle.

Hide Ad"He tried to drag the complainant back into the car, punching his face," Mr Baird said, adding that, at one point, Ali got into the driver's seat and threatened to reverse the car over the other man.
His victim was left with "multiple lacerations" to his face and a fractured left eye socket but was reluctant to make a victim impact statement.
The court heard that Ali claimed he was acting in self-defence, but his response had "gone too far."
Shufqat Khan, mitigating, said Ali, who has no previous convictions, has been in custody since April 27, and had already served the equivalent of a nine-month sentence.

Hide AdHe said that his first taste of prison had a "deterrent effect" on him.
Ali, 20, of Burngreave Road, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm, on August 5.
Recorder Mark McKone told him that he originally faced a much more serious charge, but that he would be dealt with on the basis of the witness's version of events.
"I don't think I really know what the background really is between you and the complainant," he said to Ali.

Hide AdHe sentenced him to 14 months, suspended for two years, and ordered him to undertake 15 rehabilitation days.
