Sexual assaults of teenage girl and woman in Sheffield believed to be linked

Police say they believe the assaults, which happened in the Shiregreen and Parson Cross areas of the city, may be linked.
Officers were first called at 8.20pm yesterday, Sunday, April 4, to reports that a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted on Deerlands Avenue, in Parson Cross.

Hide AdAn unknown man is said to have got out of a car and approached the victim before assaulting her. He then left the scene in the vehicle, believed to be a black BMW.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said specially trained detectives were reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out ‘extensive enquiries’ to identify the attacker, with officers also supporting the young victim.
The second offence happened on Bellhouse Road, in the Shiregreen area.
Police said they received a report at around 2am today, Monday, April 5, that an unknown man had approached a woman in her 20s and made sexual remarks before sexually assaulting her.

Hide AdDetective Sergeant Lee Corker said: “I absolutely understand that these incidents may be concerning to people in the local community. I would like to reassure you that we are carrying out extensive enquiries in the local area and our investigation is progressing at pace.
