Glen Marsh, aged 48, of Greenway Drive, Sheffield, initially abused a city centre ambassador in Sheffield who had been concerned for his welfare in the Barker’s Pool area and he was arrested by police on Fargate, according to a Sheffield Crown Court hearing.
Prosecuting barrister Amy Earnshaw told the hearing on December 17 that the ambassador was abused and threatened in August and after Marsh was arrested he kicked one of the officers in her leg.

Hide AdMrs Earnshaw added that when police later woke Marsh in his police cell he racially abused another officer.
After Marsh was on police bail, he had been seen on Fargate, in October, near a building site shouting and swearing and he became abusive to a concerned worker and threatened to “slice his throat”.
Mrs Earnshaw said: “He genuinely thought the defendant was going to carry out the threat. He noticed he was waving something that looked like a flick-knife and he called the police.”
Following Marsh’s arrest, he defecated in a police cell and spread the mess around himself and the cell, according to Mrs Earnshaw.

Hide AdMarsh, who has previous convictions, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour, racially-aggravated threatening behaviour and assaulting an emergency worker. He also admitted possessing a bladed article in public, affray and causing criminal damage.
Defence barrister Francis Edusei said: “He’s lived on the streets of Sheffield for some 22 years.
“He was brought up in Barnsley and has no family. Both parents died some years past and he has no siblings.
“He tells me he has suffered from mental health difficulties for some period and he has not medicated and he lives on the streets.”
