Emergency services, including three fire crews, found the roof of a house on Birley Spa Lane, Hackenthorpe “well alight” at 11.10pm on Thursday after a fire broke out.
No one was hurt. One neighbour said she thought the noise of an explosion during the blaze “was a firework”. Others described hearing a ‘huge boom’.
A South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: “Initial investigations show that this was an accidental fire.”
