Man jailed for stabbing Sheffield taxi driver in his head
and live on Freeview channel 276
Bassan Khan, aged 19, attacked the driver in South View Road, Sharrow, during a weekend of violence last Easter.
In addition to stabbing him, he smashed his windows and damaged the bodywork of his cab.

Hide AdKhan, of South View Road, was jailed on Monday, February 17 after pleading guilty to wounding and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The attack was one of a number of incidents in Sheffield over the same weekend, which detectives at the time said were linked and led to calls for police action from concerned communities worried about crime spiralling out of control.
Four days after the attack on the taxi driver, two men – aged 18 and 26 – were stabbed when violence flared on Abbeydale Road.
And in the early hours of the following day, former Sheffield councillor Mohammad Maroof’s home in Edgedale Road, Nether Edge, was shot at.

Hide AdNobody was injured in the gun attack but the councillor’s front door was damaged.
A short time later the windows of a house in South View Road were damaged.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Etheridge, Sheffield’s Crime Manager at the time, said officers trawled through hours of CCTV footage from cameras around the city as they attempted to piece together the movements of those involved in the incidents.
Extra police patrols were ordered in the aftermath of the incidents to restore calm.
