A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape, relating to an alleged attack on a teenage girl as she walked through Rotherham playing fields, has now been bailed.

The girl was reportedly walking with a group of friends through Eastwood Playing Fields, off Eldon Road and Hardwicke Road, in the Eastwood area of Rotherham, when she was raped at around 9pm on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape following an appeal from South Yorkshire Police yesterday (Saturday, July 8, 2023), in which the force released a CCTV image of a man they believed may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

A SYP spokesperson said today (Sunday, July 9, 2023) that the man arrested has now been 'bailed, as enquiries continue'.

Anyone with information is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 1121 of July 6, 2023.
