Below are some of the most shocking cases from across South Yorkshire that resulted in the terrible loss of lives.
Offenders have been involved in stabbings, stranglings and a shooting and have received a range of punishments with many facing long custodial sentences.
The tragic killings have involved the deaths of a father-of-three, two teenage boys and a popular boxer, among others.

Lewis Barker, aged 27 when sentenced, of North Hill Road, Southey Green, Sheffield, pictured left, pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life and must serve a minimum of 23 years. 4. Scott Gocoul and Joseph Bennia
Two men were jailed in August, last year, at Sheffield Crown Court over the death of popular boxer Tom Bell who was shot dead at the Maple Tree pub in Balby, Doncaster.
Scott Gocoul, aged 28 when sentenced, of no fixed abode, pictured left, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 33 years.
