Sheffield Crown Court heard on April 15 how Mark Stanton, aged 37, of Beechville Avenue, Swinton, near Rotherham, was initially found intoxicated in a garden at his father’s home.
Edward Moss, prosecuting, said Stanton had been causing a disturbance at his father’s address and after police had been called they found the defendant collapsed in the garden.

Judge Rachael Harrison told Stanton: “You recklessly removed your shoe in the direction of the victim.”
Stanton, who has 46 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker after the incident on August 24, 2020, and he admitted stealing a mobile phone and a laptop after a theft in Rotherham in February.
Mr Moss said Stanton had tried to sell the phone at a Cash Converters shop but when the phone rang and was called back by a staff member they discovered it had been stolen.
