Drink-driver lost control as he went up embankment

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 9 how Adam Royston, 32, of Berrisford Avenue, Eckington, lost control of his Ford Focus, on Rotherham Road, at Halfway, Sheffield, on December 17.
Matthew Duffy, prosecuting, said police found the vehicle abandoned on a grass embankment and officers found Royston a short distance away.

Hide AdMr Duffy added that police claimed Royston smelled of alcohol, had glazed eyes and he was unsteady on his feet.
Royston pleaded guilty to exceeding the alcohol drink-drive limit after registering 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when the limit is 35 microgrammes.
The defendant apologised and said he had clipped the back wheel of another car and lost control.
He was fined £308 and must pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 17 months.
