Bower brothers who mocked cops on Facebook spend second year in prison over Sheffield death crash

Elliott and Declan Bower were jailed in January 2019 over a death crash while they were on the run from the police.
The pair, from Harborough Avenue, Manor, Sheffield, were in a stolen Volkswagen Golf which reached speeds of 100mph during a police chase when they crashed into another car, killing two men, a woman and a toddler in November 2018.

Hide AdThey were both wanted by South Yorkshire Police over a number of offences, with driver Elliott, now 21, wanted for questioning over a serious assault, failing to attend court and failing to have a drug assessment.
Declan, 25, was wanted over an attempted murder, serious assault and driving while disqualified.
Elliot pleaded guilty to four counts of causing death by dangerous driving and three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Declan pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking and possession of a blade.

Hide AdJudge Jeremy Richardson QC, who jailed the brothers, described the case as ‘breathtaking in its horror’.
Elliot was jailed for a total of 11 years and six months and banned from driving for a decade.
Declan was jailed for a total of seven years and 10 months and banned from driving for seven years.
When the brothers were jailed Detective Chief Inspector Phil Etheridge said: “Both Elliott and Declan Bower had been wanted for some time and both clearly thought they were above the law.”
