City shoppers feel pressure to blow their xmas budget
The figures, released by MusicMagpie this week, reveal the average spend on presents in the city is expected to be around £319 this year, causing eight per cent of Sheffielders to resort to additional credit to fund their Christmas spends, while a further 12 per cent have already sold unwanted items in an effort to find the extra cash.
Liam Howley, marketing director at MusicMagpie - a re-commerce company which gives people cash for their unwanted items - said: “Christmas shopping is a significant area of expenditure for consumers at this time of year, so it’s no surprise people in Sheffield are feeling the pressure to spend more than they can afford.”
