Arson attack damages flats in Rotherham village

An arson attack caused damage to a block of flats in a Rotherham village this morning.

A pile of rubbish was set alight and the flames spread to a nearby outbuilding then to the exterior of a neighbouring block of flats.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze in St Edmund’s Avenue, Thurcroft, at 1.15am.

They spent an hour at the scene.
