Speedway tragedy couple named

SHEFFIELD speedway organisation have confirmed the tragic road-accident deaths of Darren and Sharon Boocock.
The biker and pillion passenger died in a collision between their motorbike and a lorry on the A631 between Maltby and Tickhill.

The Owlerton organisation said Sharon and Darren, nephew of the team manager Eric, leave a 12 year old son.

The col
lision happened on a winding stretch of road which has been the scene of a number of accidents, some serious.

Police are still investigating the crash but say the motorcycle was heading out of Maltby when it was in collision with the lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

Emergency services were called to the scene. The lorry driver is suffering from shock.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident.

Darren was the son of fomer England speedway captain Nigel.

Sheffield speedway said the couple had made a significant contribution to the club over the years.
