It’s been a tough few months for pubs, but there’s finally some good news on the horizon for Sheffield’s barflies.

The team behind an award-winning Sheffield bar are planning to open a new city centre venue.

The Botanist bar and restaurant at Leopold Square was crowned the best pub in the UK at the National Pub & Bar Awards in 2017.

New World Trading Company, which runs it, has now applied for a licence for a new bar and restaurant at HSBC’s Grosvenor House block on Wellington Street in Sheffield city centre.

The new venue would open until 2am Thursday-Saturday and 1am the rest of the week, if the application to Sheffield Council is successful.

Grosvenor House is part of the £470 million Heart of the City II scheme to transform Sheffield city centre.
