South Yorkshire MPs and councillors send well wishes to Boris Johnson in intensive care with coronavirus

The Prime Minister was admitted to St Thomas’ Hospital in London on Sunday, because he was still suffering coronavirus symptoms 10 days after testing positive.
He was transferred to intensive care last night to be nearer a ventilator if needed, after being given oxygen earlier in the day.

Hide AdCouncillors and MPs have been sending their best wishes to the 55-year-old and his pregnant fiancee Carrie Symonds, who is currently self-isolating after also displaying symptoms of coronavirus.
Taking to Twitter, Louise Haigh, MP for Heeley said: “Awful news, wishing the PM the speediest of recoveries. And all our thoughts of course with @carriesymonds xx.”
MP for Rother Valley, Alex Stafford, said: “So many of you have already contacted me about our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, during this time. I will be sending him a letter wishing him a speedy recovery, if you wish your name or any comments to be added please do email me: [email protected].”
Nick Fletcher, MP for Don Valley, added: “Things are moving quickly right now and we should all come together to help fight #Covid19 and stop the spread. Our thoughts are with @BorisJohnson and his family and I know we all wish him a good recovery and that he gets well soon.”

Hide AdOther councillors from the region have taken to social media to show their support, with Labour and Co-operative Party member Ben Curran, who represents Walkley, sending wishes to Boris Johnson and veteran Rochdale MP Tony Lloyd, who is also in an intensive care unit with Covid-19.
Mr Johnson is conscious but has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise for him "where necessary".
A 'get well soon Boris' message has appeared on the Winston Churchill statue in central London.
