Sheffield reaches grim coronavirus milestone as hospital death toll reaches 300

The latest figures from NHS England shows a Covid-related death was recorded by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on Monday, 5 October. The person’s family have been informed.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs The Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the Northern General Hospital.

Hide AdNationally, a further 50 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 30,226.
The patients were aged between 42 and 96 years old. All but four of them – aged 76, 80, 82 and 92 – had known underlying health conditions.
There were 287 cases per 100,000 people in Sheffield in the seven days to 2 October. The average area in England had 52. The city’s director of Public Health has warned the city could be placed in a local lockdown within the next week.
