New vaccine hub to open at Sheffield's Octagon
The Octagon, at the University of Sheffield, will be open seven days a week, Monday to Sunday, from 7.40am to 7pm and will be run by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals on behalf of the NHS national vaccination programme. It will operate in addition to over 30 primary care sites already situated across the region, local pharmacies and Sheffield Arena.
The new centre will deliver around 800 vaccinations each day.

Hide AdDr Jennifer Hill, Medical Director (Operations) at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “GPs, nurses, pharmacists, volunteers and countless other NHS staff have been incredible in delivering the vaccination programme as quickly as possible and this new site will help us to accelerate immunisation efforts once again.
"I would urge everyone to get their vaccination as soon as they are called for it by the NHS.
Appointments can currently be booked by people aged 30 and over by calling free on 119 or by booking online through the national NHS booking service at www.nhs.uk.
Dr Hill added: “It’s also important to be mindful that whilst the vaccine will protect those who have it from being very sick, the virus is still being transmitted. We therefore ask that everyone continues to adhere to the Hands, Face, Space guidance, limit contact with others as much as possible and continue to wear a face mask to prevent further infections.”
