Primary schools are on course to welcome back pupils from next Monday, June 1, says the Government, which has now announced the date on which secondary schools could reopen.

Secondary schools, sixth forms and colleges are expected to welcome their first students back from June 15, it was announced on Sunday evening.

Pupils in years 10 and 12, who are due to sit their GCSEs and A levels next year, will be the first to return, and the Government says around a quarter of these students will be in at any point.
