Sheffield Hallam University said: “Our system is based on self-reporting from students and staff. Where it later transpires that a student did not have a positive test, the university has removed that student from our list of cases. This has led to a reduction of seven cases in the w/c 28 September figures.”
The University of Sheffield, however, said it will release figures on a daily basis with data compiled from the previous day.
The latest figures show that the institution recorded 56 new student cases on Monday, October 12.

In an announcement last Monday, Sheffield Hallam said it would be increasing “the proportion of online teaching” for two weeks as a precautionary measure following the spike in coronavirus cases in Sheffield.
The University of Sheffield has also temporarily suspended all face-to-face teaching, with the exception of clinical teaching, until Monday, October 19 in response to an “increase in Covid-19 cases in the city and within our university community.”
