The fundraising campaign - which started on the first week of the fasting month of Ramadan last month - was a collective effort of the students and staff from Sheffield Park Academy and High Hazels Academy.
A strong community partnership by Darnall Football Academy and Industry Road Mosque played its part too, said one of the organisers, Shufqat Khan

"The community was so generous - especially the mosque and our community partners. I would like to thank them and I hope we can continue our success."
He also said that it was inspiring to note that the fundraising went from £1,200 through a litter-picking activity when they first started to more than double in a matter of three weeks.
And now they are looking to extend their charity work beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
