Hide AdWetherspoon has now applied for a licence for the venue, which would open from 9am-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9am-11pm on other days, with a 1am opening for Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Maundy Thursday.
However, it could be some time before the pub opens, with a spokesman for the chain saying it still needs to complete on the purchase of the property, which is expected to happen in mid-January.
He said this meant there was not yet any anticipated date for when Wetherspoon would begin work at the site or open the new pub.
The licensing application was received on November 26 and people have until Christmas Eve to submit any comments to Sheffield Council.

Sheffield councillor Chris Rosling-Josephs, who sits on the city’s planning board which granted permission to turn the premises into a pub, previously said he was ‘absolutely furious’ at the way the move was handled as he claimed there there had been no mention of selling the business.
